About the challenge
Tawfiq Hackathon is a unique building experience rooted in purpose. This isn't just about shipping code — it's about creating tools and projects that help us stay grounded, stay mindful, and strengthen our reliance on Allah. Whether you're a developer, designer, or someone with a powerful idea, this is your chance to build something that matters beyond the screen. Come build with barakah.
Get started
Ready to build with purpose? Here's how to jump in:
The hackathon kicks off on March 27th. Register your team (solo builders welcome too), brainstorm your idea, and start building something that brings people closer to what truly matters. No experience level is too early — bring your skills, your sincerity, and your best niyyah. Tawfiq comes from Allah; your job is to show up and try.
Requirements
What to Build
For this track, pick a Qur'an verse that means something to you and let it be the anchor for whatever you build. The verse should inspire the purpose behind your project, not just sit on a slide as decoration. A verse about charity could inspire a sadaqah platform. A verse about community could inspire a volunteering app. The actual product can be anything, what matters is that the idea is genuinely grounded in the verse and the values behind it.
Your project must be code-based. That could be a web app, mobile app, browser extension, CLI tool, chatbot, API, or anything else. First time building something? Perfect. Always wanted to try a new framework but never had the time? This is your moment. We actively want you to build with tools you've never used before, that's part of the point.
What to Submit
All submissions must be made through Devpost and should include:
- A working demo or prototype, it doesn't need to be perfect, but it should be functional enough to show your idea in action
- A short video walkthrough (3 minutes max) covering what you built, the problem it addresses, and how it connects to your chosen Qur'an verse
- A link to your source code (GitHub, GitLab, etc.), all projects must include accessible code
- Your tech stack and any APIs or tools you used, including anything you tried for the first time
